EVENT CANCELLED!
… AND WE ARE BACK!
As I return to hosting in-person events after a gap of 18 months, I want to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported Bollywood-Bhangra focused Jai Ho! Dance Parties in Portland since January 2010 & embraced our new party ‘Dance United’, launched in 2017 with a mission to bring various musical genres & cultures together on the dance floor.
If you have attended one of my parties before, welcome back! And if you are new to my events, you couldn’t have picked a better one to start with. I hope you experience inclusivity, exuberance, carefree joy, and non-stop dancing to hits from across South Asia as we celebrate India & Pakistan’s FREEDOM from The British Raj.
Have a ball with old friends and make some new ones!
Please read on below for all the relevant details & feel free to DM/follow me @dreamprashant (Instagram, FB, YouTube) with any questions / feedback / ideas you might have.
– Prashant
CELEBRATE FREEDOM!
In addition to being our official return to the nightlife scene in Portland, and introducing a brand new indoor-outdoor venue OPALINE (formerly Barrel Room), this party commemorates India & Pakistan’s 75th year of FREEDOM from The British Raj.
PARTY THEME
In the spirit of celebration, I would like to encourage you to come dressed in Orange, White &/or Green, official flag colors of the two nations.
Help Me Raise Funds for COVID Relief Efforts In Rural India:
Portion of the proceeds from this party will be donated to GiveIndia’s efforts to bring relief (vaccition, oxygen beds etc) to RURAL India.
As someone who spent 6 months (Nov 2020 to May 2021) at my village near Nashik, India – I can tell you first hand that rural India needs all the support it can get at this time. You are welcome to donate directly to GiveIndia but by simpy buying tickets, you will already be contributing as I will be donating a portion of the profits from this party.

General Guidelines @ Every JAI HO!
Creating a safe & celebratory space is my number one priority at every event I host.
And I would love for you to be an accomplice of mine by greeting & treating everyone like you would like to be treated. With equality, mutual respect, and a big smile.
I know this does not apply to you because you are awesome but for the other people who it may be relevant to, I have zero tolerance for bigotry, racist remarks and general reckless behavior including but not limited to fighting, inappropriate touch, etc.
Anyone found engaging in such behavior will be thrown out at once & may never be able to attend my dance parties again.
If you see something, say something by bringing it to the attention of the venue staff or me directly. <3
A brief history of JAI HO! in Portland:
I moved to the US from India in 2003 for graduate school at Cornell University, and started DJing, teaching dance + hosting events in Portland after quitting a full-time job at Intel back in 2009.
Since then, I have traveled regularly across the west coast, Denver, and New Orleans to produce MAD AWESOME dance parties creating and fostering communities centered around celebrating world music & dance with a focus on south asian culture.
I am actively looking for teammates to help with social media & event organization in various cities. Please connect with me directly if this is something of interest to you. 🙂
Hosting A Private Event?
When not hosting my own dance nights, I love DJ’ing for weddings, private and corporate events. Contact me through my website https://dreamsperfected.com if you want to work with me to throw a memorable shindig!
