Have you ever wanted to try dancing Bollywood and Bhangra? Here’s your chance to teleport to the dream city of Mumbai with the lead dancer of Jai Ho! Dance Troupe, Brittany Newton.
INTRODUCTION TO BOLLYWOOD & BHANGRA:
Participants will spend part of the class learning Bhangra, the high energy folk dance originating from the north Indian state of Punjab. During the rest of the class, Brittany will introduce you to the dreamy world of Bollywood, India’s largest film industry based out of Mumbai. You will learn the building blocks of both dances. This dance class is ideal for absolute beginners and fun for all ages & all levels.

What to wear & bring?
Dress in comfortable clothes that you might wear to work out or for a yoga class. We will be sweating a lot so make sure to stay hydrated before, during, & after class.

About Brittany Newton – Jai Ho Dance Troupe:
Brittany brings a wealth of experience to Dance With Joy Studios having spent almost 9 years learning Bollywood from & performing alongside DJ Prashant across the United States.
Since the beginning of her formal training in ballet, tap, and jazz at the age of eight, Brittany has channeled her passion for dance into numerous art forms. She has taught children’s classes, choreographed musicals, competed on dance teams, and even won a pageant.
Brittany holds an academic minor in Dance from Portland State University. Within the Creative Dance Sequence, she honed her skills by choreographing and performing in four of the dance department’s showcases and one of the music department’s operas. In her first year at PSU she fell in love with Bollywood and Bhangra after attending a workshop taught by Prashant Kakad.
As the lead dancer of the Jai Ho! Dance Troupe, Brittany has performed & taught Bollywood dance nearly nine years, capturing the character-driven nature of Bollywood music through her elegance & charisma. She most recently starred in the narrative dance musical “A Bollywood Dream” at the Hult Center in Eugene and The Armory in Portland.
