Desi Caliente is a Bollywood, Bhangra and Latin fusion dance performance group founded in 2010 by Subbu. Subbu is originally from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and has been dancing, directing and choreographing Bollywood for over 25 years. Desi Caliente is a local favorite and has been entertaining crowds at many festivals such as Taste of Colorado, Indian Dance Festival, Colorado Dragon Boat, Aurora Global Festival and the Denver Salsa & Bachata Congress. SRIDEVI BANGARU
Sridevi Bangaru is a musician who is passionate about performing and bringing joy to others through music. She has a B.A. from Willamette University. Sridevi grew up in Boulder, Colorado while training in American classical music, musical theatre, and contemporary pop/rock. As a vocalist, she loves singing pop and rock covers from the 80s until now. Sridevi has won numerous talent shows, including The Children’s Hospital Talent Competition, National Vasavite’s Got Talent Competition, NRIVA’s Colorado State Talent Show Competition, and the Legend Makers Singing Competition. Through performing, she hopes to show children in the AAPI community that they can be both American and Asian; and they don’t have to pick one or the other. One of Sridevi’s goals is to create an ensemble that is composed entirely of AAPI/BIPOC musicians and perform at AAPI/BIPOC events to empower, uplift, and support our communities.
