Have you ever wanted to try dancing – Bollywood style?
After 10 years of teaching across the west coast, the charismatic choreographer DJ Prashant is coming to Nola for a weekend dedicated to sharing vibrant dances from India. Come prepared to smile & sweat at two masterclasses focusing on two unique music & dance forms.
On Saturday, you’ll learn the high energy Bhangra Folk Dance. Students will have an opportunity (not required) to perform at our Diwali Night later that evening at the Howlin’ Wolf.
On Sunday, you’ll be introduced to the dreamy world of Bollywood, expect to spontaneously break into song & dance after this workshop full of infectious joy.
We are thrilled to have the prolific dancer Tina Singh, a local favorite in New Orelans’s bustling dance scene join Prashant to assist with the workshops.

BHANGRA
Saturday, November 11th 5:00pm-7:00pm
Bhangra is folk music/dance from the north Indian state of Punjab. During the first part of class, we will learn the basic moves of Bhangra & in the second half we will put them together in a simple, playful choreography.
Chance to perform: After learning the full song, students will have an opportunity to perform (not required) it at our Jai Ho! Bollywood Party later that evening at the Howlin’ Wolf.
BOLLYWOOD

Bollywood formally known as Hindi Cinema is India’s largest film industry based out of Mumbai. During the first part of class, we will learn the building blocks of Bollywood dance & in the second half we will learn a Bollywood choreography that will have you smiling throughout the class & beyond.

Students who attend the Bhangra workshop Saturday evening will have an opportunity to perform alongside DJ Prashant for his second Bollywood party in Nola after the terrific launch in September. Joining Prashant for the party will be Peter & Tina who will kick things off with Kizomba dance lesson.
Come prepared to dance all night to an eclectic mix of Latin & Indian dance music.

Prashant brings over 10 years of experience in teaching dance at hundreds of cultural events to people from all ages, cultures & nationalities. When he is not traveling across the US teaching dance or DJ’ing, Prashant spends time practicing Yoga & Singing.

Who can attend?
These classes are tailored for all ages & all levels.
How much does it cost?
In advance it is $30 for one workshop, or $50 for both. At the door you’ll need to bring cash & it will be $35 per workshop.

What to wear & bring?
Dress in comfortable clothes that you might wear to workout or a yoga class, we will be sweating a lot so make sure to stay hydrated before, during & after class.
